Black Racer Snakes

Appearance
The Black Racer Snake has all the common features of snake families resident in the Southern part of the United States. The snake is colored in dark schemes from dark blue to green. It is commonly seen in the daytime due to its hard to detect colors.

Biology
Black racer snakes are generally color blind, and it's noted that they find their prey mainly by sense of smell and vibrations. It has a grey-colored stomach line, with a black dorsal and whim area. On average, a Black racer snake could grow up to 72 inches in length.

Life Cycle
Black racer snakes lay up to 20 eggs in a calendar year, and there's a chance for them to live more than a decade in many cases.

Habitat
These snakes enjoy being around woody areas. When you're living around thick bushes, make it certain that a black racer snake or a whole nest of them could be around.

Diet
The snake enjoys having rodents, and other smaller reptiles for food.

Behavior
This snake is notorious for being very good at climbing, and don't expect it to shy away from swimming either. These snakes are mainly defensive. Rather than resort to biting when they're confronted, these slithering creatures will choose to flee and live another day. Since these snakes are defensive in nature, the mortality rate of these creatures is alarming. Apart from the human factor, many of these snakes are actually killed off by birds of prey.
